My comments
I read this because somehow I got it as my WBN choice! it wasn't one of any of the 3 choices I made, but hey ho in true WBN ethics it made me read a book in a genre I would not usually read.
I struggled a bity with it, but unlike most historical novels I found I wasn't constantly questioning the research.  I was glad I had read it when I finished and I learnt more about the period than I ever thought I needed to know!

  1. I read this as it was allocated to me to give out on WBN (don't know how, I didn't request it and had not read it) still I read it so I could comment on it. Not the usual sort of book I would read- but I was glad I had when I got to teh end. Unlike most historical novels I wasn't questioning it all the time, it felt well written and thorough researched
